Valley Letters is not a book. It is not a podcast or a show. It is a story told the only way this story could be told. Slowly. Through the mail. The way secrets always have been carried.
Before there were letters, there were rules. They didn’t know that at first.
They met the way people always think chance works, by walking the same path at the same hour without realizing how thin that moment really was. It started simply. A girl walking land just outside the city. A boy who did not quite belong there. A place that felt different, even before either of them understood why.
Set in 1950s Appalachia, the story unfolds through recovered letters, diary entries, and physical artifacts. Each month you receive one installment. Inside is a piece of the story and a piece of something larger. By the time the season ends, you will have assembled more than a narrative. You will have assembled a map.
The only rule is that you read in order. The story does not work any other way.
What arrives each month
The keeper’s letter
A framed narrative letter addressed to you, the reader, guiding you deeper into the story.
Her diary entry
A private page in her voice. Immediate, honest, and written in the middle of feeling it.
His diary entry
A more restrained voice from the other side. Careful, formal, and carrying more than it says.
Postcard or art insert
A small printed piece tied to the story’s world. Worth keeping and collectible over time.
Physical clue item
A small object or insert that means something. Not every installment says what it is. That is part of it.

Common questions about our monthly mail subscription

Can I join mid-season?
No. Each season of Valley Letters opens for enrollment once, and all subscribers begin together from the first installment. This is by design because the story must be read in order, and joining mid-season would mean missing everything that came before. Enrollment windows open seasonally, so if you miss one, the next will be announced via email.
What if I miss a month or fall behind?
Your installment ships during the first week of each month regardless. If life gets busy, your letters will wait for you. The story does not expire, and past installments are yours to keep and read at your own pace once they have been mailed. The full Valley Letters story completes in 12 months. We do not make past installments available for purchase separately, so keeping your subscription active is the only way to receive each one.
Can I gift a subscription?
Yes. Gift subscriptions are available and follow the same enrollment rules. The recipient must begin at the start of a season. Contact us at info@mystorymailer.com to arrange a gift subscription and we will make sure it arrives beautifully.
What if I move during the season?
Email us at info@mystorymailer.com as soon as you know your new address. Address changes need to reach us before the first week of the month to take effect for that month’s mailing. We cannot redirect packages already in transit, so the sooner you let us know the better.
Is this suitable for teens and young adults?
Valley Letters is written for readers 13 and older. The story involves a slow-burn romance, fantasy elements, and some emotional weight, but there is no graphic content. It is well-suited for older teens and adults who enjoy literary fiction, soft fantasy, and stories that reward patience. We recommend parental awareness for readers under 16.
How do I cancel?
You can cancel anytime through your account at My Account — log in, click My Subscription, and select Cancel. Cancellations must be made at least 5 business days before your next billing date to avoid the following month’s charge. Once an installment has been mailed, that month is non-refundable. Do you ship outside the United States?
Not currently. mySTORY Mailer ships to U.S. addresses only, including Alaska and Hawaii. We do not ship to P.O. Boxes. International shipping may be considered in the future. Join the mailing list to stay informed.
